Education may be the most important part of our lives.  While parents work it is a child’s job to play and learn.  With the proper toys learning is fun!   Teachable Moments takes learning and makes it exceptionally fun.  I thought it would be perfect to tie Storybook Summer and Felt Board Stories together and contacted them to do a review/giveaway.

Teachable Moments is a shop that carrieshand crafted flannel/felt board stories and are a terrific way to enhance the literacy experience. There is something magical about the story coming alive through felt board pieces!

The felt pieces are enhanced with glitter paint and wiggly eyes for that extra special touch.  Teachable Moments makes special custom items if you do not see what you need.  Many of their felt stories and songs are cut from felt made from post consumer plastic products. Earth Friendly! The paint that they use is both acid free and non toxic so it is safe for little ones.

To accompany the felt stories Teachable Moments makes felt boards for the story pieces to stick to.  There is a portable version which rolls and ties and can easily be taken on the move.  The chalkboard portable felt matt is a very fun concept.

Our Take:
I felt like a little girl on Christmas morning when I opened my package from Teachable Moment Felt Story Boards.  I oooh’ed and aww’ed over every little piece.  The wiggly eyes (we call them google eyes) made each character that much more real.  The glitter paint was three dimensional and perfectly applied.  I expected to receive a few story pieces that had some details and embellishments and was blown away at how many details were included!!!

In the Three Little Pigs set that we received the brick house has painted white windows, a brown door, a glittery gold doorknob, glittery green grass, and a few glittery red bricks.  The stick and straw houses were just as exceptional!  Each of the three pigs is wearing a different color overall.  The list of details in the Three Little Pigs story is endless.

I made a special request for Duck on a Bike and Teachable Moments came through with an amazing set!  Each of the six bicycles was embellished with handle bars, seats, pedals, wheels, spokes, and a frame.  The animals all have wiggly eyes and extra details.  We also received Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  The set came with all 26 letters in both upper and lower case as well as a decked out coconut tree.

My daughters love their felt story board and stories.  The Three Little Pigs is the biggest hit with my soon-to-be-four-year-old since it is the most interactive with the “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down” infamous line.  The look on her face when she acting out the story is priceless and something I have video recorded.  My younger daughter adores the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom set.  We have spent hours playing with these stories!  I had to get out an extra piece of regular felt so each girl can play with a story at the same time.

I will, without a doubt, order from Teachable Moments again.  I plan on ordering Five Little Pumpkins and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  Teachable Moments’ prices are very affordable and the shipping rates are very low.
