Deborah Donner and Wendy Peterson created a magical book when they wrote and illustrated Blooming Buddies: In the Garden A Book of Blooming Verse.  When you enter the world of Blooming Buddies you will be led through beautiful garden brimming with colorful fun.  Short verses filled with the message of family and friendship are paired with vibrant water colors.  One of my favorite verses in this story is “Now that we are friends I’m happy as can be even though I’m different you saw the good in me.”  The author very poignantly put a very real situation in to a very sweet phrase.  The illustrations in Blooming Buddies truly make you believe the flowers are talking.

We enjoyed Blooming Buddies in the Garden.  While reading this before bedtime my snuggly almost-three-year old talks about the colors of the flowers and tells me how pretty they are.  Her imagination and curiousity are evidenced when she asks why our flowers do not talk.  The cadence of the book makes it easy to read.  The messages are very meaningful.  This story is appropriate for all ages.  I will read this story again and again to my daughters.
