The end of June is here and we have officially reached the season of summer.  One of the most important things we can do during the summer months is to protect our skin from the sun.  Being outdoors is fairly essential, but globbing on heaps of sunscreen is not! Sun protective clothing makes our lives so much easier.

We took some sun protective swimsuits from Solartex on our Disney cruise with us.  We had a UV suit, a two piece suit, and a sun hat (for me!).  The two piece is a swim shirt (also called a rash guard) with swim shorts and the UV suit is a one-piece zip front suit with knee length legs and elbow length sleeves.  My girls fought over who could wear the Girls UV Suit – it was that popular that tears really did spring forth.  I think that I may love that suit as much as they do.  It is adorable and so functional!

The suns rays bounce off water.  Keeping safe around and in the water was very important to me!

I adore the sun protection hat that Solartex sent me.  I wasn’t thinking clearly before we left and I made sure that everyone except me had SPF swimwear that was going to protect them from the sun.  Doesn’t that sound just like a mom – thinking about everyone before herself?  My hat did a great job shading my shoulders and face and I was so thankful for it.  That being said, I was also very jealous that everyone else didn’t need to use oodles of sunscreen and their skin didn’t start to feel the slightest bit hot from the harmful sun.  I *will* be ordering my own SPF shirt so I can use it for the rest of the hot months.
