It has been awhile since the last Family is Great post. In that time we have Bagged it Forward with Elmers, stocked up on toys at Target Toy Clearance, had adenoid surgery (Ear Tubes In, Adenoids Out), started school, and had fun!
We have 3 giant boxes in our house. The girls have played with them every day. The boxes are starting to lose their luster and I am not sad to say that they will be put out in the recycling soon. They were very fun while they lasted.
I decided that going back to school is either a sad moment or a happy moment. I was sad that the girls were heading back to school, but I didn’t want to wear my emotions where they could see them. Instead, I decorated their doors with streamers and balloons the night before school started. We turned the day into one of so much fun!
In a surprise last minute decision Big Sister decided to ride the bus to school on her very first day. I was shocked. We actually missed the bus, but it has 3 stops and all are in our neighborhood. The bus driver was nice enough to stop for her on the way out of our ‘hood. Thank goodness we live in a neighborhood that only has one way in and out.
My husband came home to see how Big Sister’s first day of public school was. We read the mail while we waited for the bus….that ended up being 40 minutes late.
We took some first day of school pictures. Doesn’t this picture just say it all? Ha!
Since my trip to Seattle, Washington I have been a whole lot obsessed with wanting to shoot a bow and arrow. Between The Hunger Games and Brave, I was giddy. We found a child’s bow and arrow set at Walmart this weekend, so we bought it. Since it is meant for children the arrows are rounded and not pointed. Don’t get me wrong, they could still hurt, but they aren’t incredibly dangerous. The girls LOVED shooting the bow and arrow. And I absolutely love that they were shooting in their dresses. I think I managed to get an arrow on the blue once. I was really good at shooting the upper left hand corner.
We hope you have had a great month full of MEMORIES! If you made it this far – be sure to order your FREE 8×10 Walgreens photo collage by Tuesday night. I am doing a collage of the first day of school.

Your girls are beautiful!!! Sounds like you guys have been having loads of fun. Hope the little one who had surgery made a speedy recovery. Love the fact that they were shooting bows and arrows in their dresses

LOVE THIS!!! Can adults actually shoot the bow and arrow adequately? Our toy one is so ridiculously small we can barely shoot it. I’m afraid I’m never going to shoot a real bow and arrow!
