If you are one of our readers who has a little one, you may be as excited as I was to hear that Medela just released a brand-new bottle perfect for pro-breastfeeding moms. The new Calma feeding system makes switching between the bottle back to breast easier than ever before. The milk flow is controlled by a valve that allows the baby to control the flow and it only flows out when the baby creates a vaccuum. This makes it most effective in mimicing the natural feeding behavior that a breastfed baby is used to, allowing them to pause and breath as they wish. This new bottle is the perfect solution for breastfeeding babies that occasionally need a bottle, especially those that are stubborn about drinking from a bottle. Medela has once again proved to be exceptional in producing a product for breastfeeding moms to make our lives easier!
If you have been a Coupons Are Great reader for a while, you probably already know that I had my third child seven months ago. I am happy to say we are still successfully breastfeeding at this point (with solids having just been added at six months). I cannot, however, say that my little guy successfully takes a bottle. My last memory of trying to leave him with my husband for long enough to require a feeding via the bottle involved a phone call with a frazzled husband and a screaming baby in the background. He doesn’t take a pacifer either so there wasn’t much hope for my husband when my little guy refused the bottle. The first thing I thought of when I heard about Calma was how much we could have used this in my house the last seven months!
When my Calma arrived, I was impressed by the design of the bottle. My husband and I were joking that it really might be the closest thing to him having his very own “man boob”. 
I was pleasantly surprised too when the cleaning process was so easy. I remember another popular brand bottle being a real drag to clean the parts, but that wasn’t the case at all with the Calma, and I loved that the bottles (of course) are compatible with my Medela pump. My older two kids were excited for the opportunity to feed their baby brother again. Our first attempt was unsuccessful with Mommy in the room, but I am excited to report that my mom was able to get him to take it when I left the house. So we officially have a bottle now that will allow mommy to get a break now and then, and it’s all thanks to Medela!
