Piggy Paint: Review, Discount, and Giveaway (CLOSED)

Pink.  Purple.  Tutus.  Dresses.  Earrings.  Nail polish.  As a mom of two little girls those six words sum up my life.  I love having two little girls who are so close in age  (almost 16 months apart), but I cannot help but worry about the products I use on them.  I hesitated before putting nail polish on their itty bitty piggies because I didn’t want it to inevitably get on their skin.  When I discovered that formaldehyde was an ingredient in nail polish I was terrified to use any polish on them.  Despite my fear my girls wore me down with the pleading and crying.  The whole time they had on mommy’s polish I cringed inside.

Thank goodness there is Piggy Paint!!!  When I originally heard about Piggy Paint I was instantly impressed.  Piggy Paint is a natural, eco-friendly nail polish designed for fancy girls. Its non-toxic, hypoallergenic formula makes it safe to use on all piggies.  There are no toxic chemicals in Piggy Paint; it’s free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, Bisphenol A, ethyl acetate and acetone.

Piggy Paint evolved when creator Melanie Hurly was painting her daughters’ nails.  One day a drop of the nail polish labeled as safe for children that she was using dropped in to a styrofoam plate and ate a hole through it.  From that day on, she decided that any flammable substance that could eat through foam was unacceptable for her children’s fingernails, which would inevitably end up in their mouths.  I totally agree!!!!

Piggy Paint sent us a bottle of nail polish and their nail polish remover to review. The very first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle of nail polish was that there is no stinky smell.  Yay!!!  The directions state to wash hands before using, to apply two to three coats of paint, to air dry for one minute and the to blow dry for one minute.  Despite the coats, air time, and blow dryer time I think that Piggy Paint dries quicker than regular paint.  A few rounds of the ABC’s for my younger daughter helped pass the time quickly.

When you think about opening a bottle of nail polish remover it makes your nose crinkle a little bit, right?  The Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover smells nothing like the nail polish remover that you and I grew up with.  It smells like you opened a bottle of alcohol, as it should since Corn Alcohol is the first listed ingredient.  The remover worked quickly and efficiently on all of our nails (yes, I painted my own nails with Piggy Paint to give it a test drive!).

I cannot go back to using “regular” polishes on my girls’ nails again.  I said good-bye to harsh smelling chemical and hello to Piggy Paint.  It is our nail polish of choice!!!  My next Piggy Paint purchase will include some of their Glow In the Dark paint.  My girls will get a kick out of it, I am sure!
