Whether you’re a Southern Fried Woman yourself or just the average female looking for some great short story reads, this book is for you. Southern Fried Women by Pamela King Cable is a collection of nine short stories about Southern women and their various struggles in life. The women in these stories are brave enough to start over again and again. Their stories are ones that you will carry with you forever once you read them.
After reading the book myself, I must say that each of the stories pulled at my heartstrings one way or another. I found that even though I picked up the book only planning to read one quick story between folding piles of laundry and scrubbing the kitchen floor, I would want to keep going to read more stories! The women in this book gave me hope, insight, and a few laughs along the way. While some days I may feel like life is tough, here they were showing me that it could be worse…. and yet they were still pushing on through and never giving up with the struggles they were enduring. The book reminded you that friendship and family are some of the most important things you will acquire during your life. I found the book to have some really great reads! Even if you are not an avid reader, this is an easy book to have laying around to pick up from time-to-time and read just one story for some inspiration. The author did such a great job of allowing her readers to be drawn into the stories. You feel the joy and the heartbreak as if you were the person in the story yourself, and you will not want the story to end!
