Swagbucks 101: Why You Should Use Swagbucks

0 Flares Filament.io 0 Flares ×

Very recently I have had a few friends ask “What is Swagbucks?  I don’t understand what to do.  I just don’t GET it.  Help!”  I know there are times when it is easier to comprehend things when they are broken down in to baby steps.  So here is a Swagbucks 101 post.

What is Swagbucks?  In a nutshell Swagbucks is an online search engine.  Go there instead of Yahoo or Google.  Each and every time you want to search, go to Swagbucks.com and type your search term into the search field and press the “Search&Win” button.  Swagbucks is not always as good as Google or Yahoo, but search until you win and then if you are still not finding the answer you would like, switch back to your preferred search engine.

How long does it take to accumulate points? The answer to this question varies on how much time you put in to Swagbucks.  Honestly, each and every month every single user could make a minimum of $5 in the form of an Amazon.com gift card.  That would be easy!  That’s $60 per year for searching the internet.  The best advice I can give is this: Use Swagbucks several times throughout the day.  Search until you win in the morning, lunch time, and night.  That will yield you at least 15 points per day.

What kinds of prizes can I get?  Lots!  We are talking gift cards to: Amazon, Starbucks, Sears, Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic, Lowes, Fandango, Home Depot, XBox Live, Lands End, DSW, Applebees, Papa John’s Bass Pro Shop, Southwest (the airline), Bath & Body Works, CVS, Nike, Crutchfield, Tiger Direct, Barnes & Noble, Overstock, iTunes, JC Penney, Foot Locker, Kmart, Regal, Macy’s, and PayPal.  Sheesh, I am a little exhausted after typing all of that and even more motivated……I am drooling over Gap, Land’s End, Macy’s, and CVS.  It’s a weird combo – I know!

Don’t be fooled by that e-Gift card option you see above.  That does not mean that you have to use your gift card online.  What it does mean is that your gift card is sent to you via email and you print it before you go shopping.  I love this method and have never encountered a problem.

This seems too easy (deceptively simple maybe even).  Is there a catch?  NO!  Swagbucks is for everyone to use.  It is so easy that I convinced my father-in-law to use it.  I used Swagbucks before I started blogging.  It is the easiest way I know for the average Joe to make money online in a legitimate way.  You do not need to download one single thing.  Just go to Swagbucks several times every single day and search until you win.  Let your points accumulate and cash those points out for the reward of your choice.

Why should I use Swagbucks?  If you like free things with very little work then you should use Swagbucks.

So, go here, register, and start your account with 30 points.  Search every day, three times a day.  You will have $5 (or more!) in a month.

Fast forward (and bookmark this post – or pin it if you use Pinterest to organize your bookmarks).  Now that you are using Swagbucks a few times a day and you are fairly good at it……there are other ways to earn Swagbucks that you should know about.  You definitely do not want to miss the Daily Polls or Swagbucks TV.  Now that you are used to going to Swagbucks for each of your searches you can add a little bit more to your plate.

You can print Coupons from Swagbucks.  You get 10 points for every coupon redeemed.  That means this: Don’t go crazy printing coupons you will not use.  Instead, print and use the ones that will save you money.

Daily Deals: You can purchase Eversave deals through Swagbucks and earn points for doing so.

Daily Polls: DO THIS EVERY DAY!  Each day Swagbucks has a short daily poll.  Click the button, take the poll, and earn 1 point each day in under 30 seconds.

Games: Earn points playing games online.  Honestly, I have never done this.  I am not a gamer.

NOSO: This stands for No Obligation Special Offers.  These are deals and offers that you can sign  up for.  Being honest here, I don’t do these.  But, if you click through all the offers (declining as you go) you will get a 2 point swag bonus at the end.  It’s kind of an annoying way to get those points, but the definitely put you closer to your goal.

Search: Just as it sounds – search!  And win.

Special Offers: Sign up for free accounts or pay for other opportunities and receive points at Swagbucks.  I don’t do these.

Swagbucks TV: An insanely easy way to rack up 75 swag bucks per day!  Let this play in the background while you are doing your other stuff and earn.  See our Swagbucks TV post for awesome tips and pointers.

Tasks: It is as it sounds – do simple tasks and earn points.  I don’t do these either.  ;-)  Can you tell that I really only like searching and winning?

Trade In: Trade in your old books, cell phones, video games, mp3 players, and video game consoles for points.  Check around before you do this because you may get more money for your products elsewhere.

Trusted Surveys: Do surveys for points.  I caution you to calculate what your time is worth before you do some of these.  10 minutes for 10 Swagbucks may be perfect for some people whereas others may think it is a waste of time.

Referrals: Once you fall in love with Swagbucks, get some referrals!  You will get up to 1,000 points rewarded when your referrals earn from searching.

Swag Codes: Can you see that I get a little wordy?  We have a whole post dedicated to “What Does a Swag Code Look Like?

Do you need to do all of the extras?  Heck no!  I don’t.  I make sure to do Swagbucks TV and the Daily Poll each day.  I also keep my eyes open for Swag Codes.

If there is something you are still unsure about, please let us know and we will explain.  Hopefully you know a little bit more and are ready to sign up to start winning!

So I joined via your link. But you always post the codes on FB why is that? I am still confused even with all the info you gave.

We can’t actually post the codes on Facebook. It is against the Swagbucks rules….but we can help you find where the codes are. So, if a code is “Valentine14″ and it is found on Facebook we cannot say “Hey, go to Swagbucks and enter ‘Valentine14′ for 10 points.” But we can say “Go check the Swagbucks Facebook page for a swag code.” Confusing, I know. We post on Facebook just so our fans know when a code is out. We really enjoy using swag bucks and getting money to help pay for Christmas and other things and we want to share our love with our readers. I will email you though!

Thank YOU Crystal! I was asked those same questions by two other people but failed to get up a post. Seeing your questions in writing was a good kick in the tush to actually do what I was thinking. xoxo
