Dora the Explorer Talking Digital Camera Giveaway (closed)

October 15, 2010 by Leandrea Voskanian

Taking pictures is almost a daily event at my house. My daughters love pretending to take pictures with all the broken cameras we have. They are ecstatic when they have a real camera to use but this mommy cringes every time they pick up our point and shoot. Thank goodness there are cameras for kids! Add a widely known animated figure, like Dora, to the camera and kids are hooked (at least my kids were).

Dora the Explorer now has a talking digital camera! This new product is the teamwork of Sakar pairing with Nickelodeon. Designed for little kids, this organically shaped camera includes a software suite and has a number of built-in phrases from Dora. The MSRP of this fun little device is $29.99 and it can be found in stores as well as online at places like Amazon.  It is powered by two AAA batteries (not included).

We put this camera to use for review. My girls really enjoyed using it.

Pros: Lightweight, easy to power on and off, buttons are simple to push, Dora’s voice is engaging, the software is manageable by a four-year-old.

Cons: There is no display screen to review pictures, photos cannot be deleted without uploading them to the computer via the mandatory software, you need an absolutely teeny tiny screwdriver to get the battery cover open.

One lucky Coupons Are Great reader will win their very own Dora the Explorer Talking Digital Camera!!!

The one memory I would have love to capture is when my grandson was around 4 and he had a wand and was pretending to be a magician. My husband told him be careful, you might make grandma disappear. He said a magic word and he wasn’t looking at me and I hurried and hid behind the couch and when he turned to look, I was gone. My husband said the look on his face was priceless.

This is a moment I wish I would have caught on camera: My cockapoo puppy has this habit of taking his things out of his kennel. Charlie drug his blanket out & then went on to play with something else. Oscar the cat decides he will lay on the Charlie’s blanket. Charlie then barks at Oscar trying to get him off of his blanket. Oscar totally ignores him so Charlie starts dragging around his blanket with Oscar laying on it. Those two remind me of two little kids!

Right before my son was born I asked for a film camera for Christmas. My son was born the 28th of Dec. I had used the camera through one roll at least between getting it and his being born because I also had a 2 yr old daughter. When we brought him home I was clicking picture after picture for a month and realized one day I hadn’t ran out of film yet. THERE WAS NONE IN IT! I was heartbroken!
