Atlanta: Country Living Fair THIS weekend!

October 23, 2010 by Leandrea Voskanian

Atlantans – if your weekend is free there is a great event in Stone Mountain this weekend.  For the first time, Country Living magazine is bringing its style and flourish to Atlanta with its festive Country Living Fair, taking place Oct. 22 – 24 at Stone Mountain Park. This truly unique fair is designed to enlighten, inspire, and inform its visitors by offering real opportunities to interact with the magazine’s experts, participate in DIY cooking and crafting demonstrations, and enjoy celebrity booths, live music and delicious food.

WHAT: Country Living magazine brings Country Living Fair to Atlanta for the first time.  With more than 20,000 visitors expected to attend, The Country Living Fair offers individuals and families the opportunity to participate in a fun, festival-like atmosphere through cooking, crafting, and other DIY demonstrations, as well as live music and fantastic food. In addition, attendees experience a unique shopping experience where more than 100 exhibitors will feature antiques, gifts, home décor, jewelry and more.  Sponsors of the Country Living Fair are: Mohawk, Gorilla Glue, Rust-Oleum and Iams.

WHO: Country Living editors and contributors including Editor-in-Chief Sarah Gray Miller meet-and-greets; Ask a Country Vet contributor Dr. Rob Sharp will be available for pet questions; appraisal expert Helaine Fendleman of Country Living’s “What is it? What is it Worth?” column will be on site Saturday and Sunday for live appraisals.

Atlanta native Chip Wade of HGTV’s Designed to Sell and Curb Appeal: The Block will host “Amazing Makeovers with Chip Wade,” demonstrating the tools and processes best suited for exterior renovation, landscaping and construction.  Guests can also bring in a photo of their home renovation project, and get one-on-one advice from Chip on how to resolve their personal reconstruction challenges.

Country Living Kitchen food demonstrations with folks such as South Georgia native Gena Knox showcasing recipes from her new cookbook “Southern My Way.”  Also, Cooper Boone will share a comfort food demo in the Kitchen as well as entertain us on the Main Stage with his award-winning country songs.

Amy Barickman of Indygo Junction and The Vintage Workshop will share ideas for incorporating vintage textiles and thrift shop finds into unique fashions, such as recycling denim into pillowcase pullovers and embellishing with hankies.

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 24  – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: Grounds of Stone Mountain Park

WHY ATLANTA: Per Editor in Chief Sarah Gray Miller, “Atlanta captures the same feeling as our magazine does: It’s a bustling city with a friendly, small-town feel—a place that’s steeped in tradition, yet also modern and forward-looking.  Practically speaking, Atlanta’s easy to travel to from all parts of the country, with great hotels, restaurants, shops, and a fantastic venue for the Fair: naturally beautiful Stone Mountain Park.  Plus, our readership in the South has always been strong. In fact, I’m a southerner myself, from Mississippi, so it’ll feel like coming home for me.”

NOTE: Admission is $15 at the door, $12 in advance. Weekend passes are available for $20/door and $15/advance. An early bird special pass is available for $35 in advance only and grants admission on Friday and/or Saturday at 8:30 a.m. – beating the crowds. Children ages 16 and under free. For tickets & show information visit www.stellashows.com or call (866) 500-FAIR. For additional details visit www.countryliving.com/fair.
