This year we decided to do something a little different for cookies for Santa. Our plate is getting outdated and I really wanted something cuter. So….we made a quick melted peppermint plate that is adorable. Absolutely adorable! This project is super easy to make. It’s so easy the kids can practically make it themselves.

To make a Melted Peppermint Plate you need:
* Springform Pan
* Peppermints
* Oven – 375 degrees

Starting from the outside, lay the peppermints around the springform pan. Work your way towards the center.

Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Allow your peppermint plate time to cool. Release from the springform pan and you have a fantastic plate with a ton of uses: a cake base, a brownie platter, cookies for Santa, and so much more! Ohhh, ornaments would be veeerrrry cute as well.
This is NOT sticky. However, if anything wet/moist touched it I am sure we would run in to some major sticky problems. I will try sealing it with some polyurethane that is in the basement and will let you know how it turns out. It IS fragile. I don’t want to think about it breaking either. Can you imagine the mess? Eek!
Of course, you can go the easiest route of all and just buy a really cute peppermint plate (like the one immediately above this). That is a plate that is a lot less fragile and doesn’t have the sticky factor.
If you do this craft we would LOVE to see a picture!

Is the plate edible after you cook it? Cause I would love to use it as a base for a cake and give it as a gift with an edible plate.
Let us know how the polyurethane works! I would love to make one into a permanent plate.
Did you coat the bottom of the pan with some cooking spray?
