Care Bears are a reeeeaaaalllllyyyyyyy big deal in our house.  Sometime between the ages of three and four my older daughter slowly became obsessed.  The theme for her 4th birthday party was Care Bears.  Believe me when I say that 20+ years ago this would have been an super easy party to throw.  Thankfully I am semi-crafty and my mother-in-law is a crafty genius.  We pulled together a perfect Care Bear birthday party.  If you can imagine, the obsession didn’t stop in September, it continued through Halloween when she wanted to be Share Bear.  With the help of my mother-in-law via Skype I made a Care Bear costume.  While not as adorable and with all the fru-fru’ness of a store bought costume, I had a very happy little girl!

When I heard that the Kidtoons November feature was Care Bears: Share Bear Shines, I almost fell out of my seat.  Care Bears on the big screen in the year 2010??  Sign us up!

It’s time for the Twinklets’ migration over Care A Lot, but the Bears wait all night without spotting any Twinklets.  When a single Twinklet appears and falls to the ground, Share decides to take matters into her own hands.  The other Bears are skeptical about the existence of the mythical Princess Starglo, but Share is convinced that the Princess can solve the mystery of the missing Twinklets.  So, with the lone Twinklet (now called Gleamer), Share sets off secretly to find Princess Starglo. When Share and Gleamer reach Glitter City and find the Princess, things are worse than they thought.  Princess Starglo is shutting off the stars, because no one believes in her anymore.  Meanwhile, back in Care A Lot, the other Bears discover that Share is missing and go after her.  The Bears convince Princess Starglo that they do believe and together, find a way to rescue the Twinklets and relight the stars in the sky.

During the month of November you wil be able to watch Care Bears: Share Bear Shines at a participating theater near you. I checked the listing in my area and the cost for our entire family of four to go to the theater to see this movie is only $12!!! That is a great price for a cute movie.
