It pays to go in to the bank

March 26, 2009 by Leandrea Voskanian

Last Saturday my younger daughter and I went in to Bank of America to make a withdrawal and change my debit pin. The teller was the sweetest lady and asked if we had a savings account set up for my daughter. I said we did and then she asked if we paid our bills via online bill pay. Of course we do! Paying for stamps when we can use an online service is ridiculous. The teller proceeded to tell me that if we opened a savings account linked to our main account we would get a $50 bonus. Ca-ching! Of course I said yes and filled out the paperwork. There were no catches with the savings account (direct deposit or minimum balance) and our money will be deposited in 12 weeks.

This offer would not been known to us if I hadn’t walked in to the bank (something I rarely do). Moral of the story – sometimes it pays to go in to the bank
