Family is Great – Our Few Week in Pictures: Through July 8

July 8, 2012 by Leandrea Voskanian

It has been awhile since I posted a “Our Week in Pictures” post.  So this post will be a little picture heavy.  For those of you who are family that is probably a good thing.  For anyone else, my sincerest apologies!

We found a “V” shaped carrot.  This is pretty big news in our house since our last name starts with a V!  It is magic how that carrot grew like that.

Big Sister got braids while we were on our Disney Cruise (see more pictures of her braids here).  Well, we took them out.  There was a lot of hair shed over the next day or so.  Literally, handfuls.

We shot some Nerf bows at the Brave event in Centennial Olympic Park similar to similar to this one. The girls LOVED them!

The girls also ran through the ring fountain at Centennial Olympic Park.  They said the water was coooo-oooold.

I froze 40+ pound of peaches.  That was work, but it is going to be so rewarding this winter to have locally grown, no sugar added peaches from the freezer.

We have been working on home improvement projects.  The first was the Powder Room Makeover.  We changed the lights, painted the cabinet, changed the toilet paper roll and towel holder, and painted the room.  It needs some art and I will update the post.

We have now moved to fixing the upstairs.  Our bathroom floor has  had CARPET.  Yuck!  Who does that?  Anyway, after almost 6 years of living here we peeked underneath and found linoleum.  I have never been so excited to see ugly-in-any-other-circumstances-linoleum in my life.  We pulled out the carpet in the bathroom.  We will add a new floor to that bathroom, but for now it is so much better!

We are now working on the girls’ bathroom.  The light has been changed, the walls have been painted, the cabinet has been painted, and one faucet has been changed.  The other one is a little stuck and my husband had to take a break.  I also need to make art for that room as well as find a shower curtain rod, toilet paper holder, and towel rack.  Phew!  Here is a photo of the new faucet next to the old faucet.  Major improvement!

We have had a great growing season with strawberries and tomatoes this year.  I haven’t bought tomatoes in a long time!  It is awesome heading outside to pick what we want to eat.  The girls go out every morning for their harvesting.

Little Sister spiked a 102 fever and has another double ear infection.  We played Yahtzee (which I found for $2.99 at Kroger) with some made up rules.  The age on the box says 8, which seems too old.  But it must be that way for a reason?  That little cool patch on her head really did help bring her fever down!

Big Sister is close to losing a tooth!
Like really close and she really wants it to come out!  I give it a week or so.  As if you expected any less, the tooth fairy pillow is under construction.  More on that when I have made a cute pillow perfect for lost teeth.

We went to Fernbank Museum today.  More on that later.  I loved the dinosaurs outside!

Aww!  I think I had to threaten them to stand next to each other and smile in this picture.  That is the reason for the forced looking smiles….because they are!

Little Sister and I waited for Big Sister and Daddy and snapped this shot.  I am wearing a Hello Kitty Oregon Ducks Shirt.  Who knew such a thing even existed?  I love that the Olympic Trials for running were held in Eugene this year.

Hopefully now that I am caught up I can stay caught up!  Sorry for the micro images.  It is late and I want to go to bed instead of fix them.

    Love this!

Is it the braids that made her hair fall out? icky!?
The home improvement stuff is coming along & looking great. Love that your ‘maters are doing so well. We have 5. & that’s it. I wish I was a better gardener 🙁

It wasn’t so much the braids as it was her hair being in the braids for 5 weeks. The dead hair had no place to go. I was a terrible gardener until this year too. This is the first year we have ever had tomatoes. Keep trying! I would trade you my tomatoes for you chickens!

I still think you need to redo your carpet. I will email you the link to what we use after I can give it a testimonial. xoxo
