Beeep, Beeep, BEEEEP. When it comes to household safety there are things that families should have. Smoke detectors are a must in every home and carbon monoxide detectors should be found in every home that uses natural gas. Fire prevention is important and we must be prepared.
The reality is that some people cannot afford to pay their daily bills or put food on the table……so buying a working fire alarm is a task that seems insurmountable. In the Atlatnta areaWSB-TV has teamed up with local fire departments and Kidde for Operation Save a Life – a fire safety awareness campaign. Five thousand smoke detectors donated by Kidde are now available in the Atlanta area for viewers who can’t afford to buy them. Every bedroom needs a working fire alarm. You should be able to “hear the beep when you sleep.” When I was a child in the late 1980’s our family friends lost three of their five family members to a house fire. Working fire alarms inside each of the bedrooms may have been the early warning that saved their family. We will never know. It is undeniable that working smoke detectors mean the difference between life and death.
If you know anyone who may need a smoke detector who lives in the Atlanta area, please share the news with them that they can get a FREE smoke alarm. There are hundreds of smoke alarms available in our area for families who need assistance. Contact your local fire department for more information (and check the list here to see if your county is participating).
The more people who know, the better! Thanks for helping spread the word.
