Size, shape, and a few functions are the main differences. The 405 has a trainer you can compete against, and the 305 doesn’t. Both come with heart rate monitors, so that is not different. My friend Nicole loves her 305 and I love my 405. Nicole says she would buy the 405 if it were $100, but that it really isn’t worth buying a new watch to upgrade and that hers is just fine. It really boils down to preference. As a female I preferred the smaller watch (although I ONLY wear it running since it is big). Really, that was my selling factor. 🙂
