If you want my advice choosing between a Kindle, Kindle Keyboard 3G, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 I can offer insight on 3 of those 6 devices.  The original Kindle is nice for daylight conditions or rooms at night with bright lights.  There is no/little glare on the screen and is good for reading books.  The Kindle Paperwhite is my husband’s favorite.  The Paperwhite is just backlit so well.  Amazon nailed it!  The Kindle Fire is a good device.  The color screen makes it very appealing, but there is quite a bit of glare.  Kindle FreeTime for kids is awesome!
