Last week the girls and I had fun reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. At the end of the week my two-year-old sat down with the book and read it out loud to herself. Repeated readings were amazing for her and she nailed the important parts.
Last week we read the story five times. The girls liked painting butterflies and thought it was cool that symmetry happened when you folded the wings.

I definitely overshot the graphing activity. I don’t know what I was thinking but I chose 11 (hmm, could have been 13) gummy worms for estimation. Well, the girls guessed 4 and 5. Needless to say I will be better at thinking small next time. We had a lot of fun lining up the worms, counting them, and talking about patterns since the graphing portion of the lesson wasn’t such a success. Both girls now know the word “cocoon” now.

We started Week 2 Brown Bear today. Natalie wanted to make more circle caterpillars and I thought I would make a bear since I had my circle cutters out. I couldn’t figure out what kind of nose a paper bear should have, so that part is a bit funky. Natalie glued all the bear paws on. Love it!
Here is Little Sister, with orange ink on her chin, reading Brown Bear.
