Market research is so much fun. Once the girls are in school and I return to the workforce I have contemplated between going back to teach (using Direct Instruction) or weaseling my way in to market research. Luckily I live in a large metropolitan area where market research is plentiful. Don’t despair if you live in the sticks, there are still research opportunities for you but in slightly different capacities.
Last week PVR Research called me to see if my three-year-old and I wanted to come in for a taste test. I laughed and asked if she really wanted a picky three-year-old to come in and she assured me that we were exactly who she was looking for (the first part of the winning combo was that I am 30 and my daughter is 3 – these market research studies are looking for very specific criteria to be filled). Today we went to the study and I enjoyed it! I have participated in numerous market research studies (several in office and one via an online forum) and have liked each one. I will admit, the pay is mighty nice too!
Today we were paid $60 cash for 45 minutes of our time. We sampled some great products that I really hope make it to mainstream America.
My point, don’t overlook market research. Big companies want our opinions and they are willing to pay for them!
