Do you have a kiddo who is going back to school in the next few weeks? This Milky Way Rocket craft is a perfectly easy way to propel us into the new school year using candy that we get for free or cheap with coupons. It could also be converted into birthday party favors very easily! Speaking of school, don’t forget to follow our Back to School posts to save the most money on school supplies this year!
Supplies to Make a Milky Way Rocket
- Milky Way Candy Bar (really any candy bar works for this cute project, but the Milky Way is a little extra fun with the whole blasting off theme)
- Free Milky Way rocket craft printable
- Cardstock
- Scissors
- Tape
- Glue
- Construction Paper (Red, Yellow, Orange)
Step 1: Print your rocket craft file onto card stock then cut each design so they release from the paper.
Step 2: Attach the red and white striped rocket piece to the Milky Way bar. Secure to the bar with tape. Tape closed.
Step 3: Roll the starry blue rocket top into a cone shape. Tape it closed.
Step 4: Glue the edge of the top of the rocket with a generous amount of glue. Put the rocket top onto the glue and press to secure.
Step 5: Stack together one piece of red, yellow, and orange construction paper. Cut flame shape pieces out of the construction paper. Layer together and adhere with glue.
Step 6: Cut one slit on each of the sides of the bottom of the rocket. Tuck the flame piece into the rocket.
Step 7: Glue the “Blasting into a new school year” paper to the flames (Tip: If you want to create your own words use PicMonkey.com to do so. It is free and incredibly easy to use)
Admire your work! Isn’t it cute? I am going to give these to my daughters teachers as well as donate some to the food pantry. There will be smiles all around!
