Coupons are great….and running is great too! Whether you are starting a Couch to 5 K program or you are a serious runner, I consider all of your running achievements to be HUGE!
One of my goals for 2012 was to run 3 half marathons in 2012. I ran the Disney Princess Half Marathon dressed in a homemade Rapunzel outfit in January….at Disney World. It was amazing! Then in March I ran the Publix Half Marathon here in Atlanta. That means I need to run one more 13.1 mile race to meet my goal of running three half marathons in 2012.
So what is a sane person to do? Run three races. A rather insane person ups that number to FOUR! I am officially signed up to run the Silver Comet Half Marathon on October 27th. My goal, what I want more than anything this year, is to run that silly race in less than two hours for my personal record. I need to get over a huge mental roadblock though…..I don’t really know anyone who is running that race. I have never gone to a race by myself. Yes, I am a big girl, but I take comfort in having a buddy with me. I truly need to put on my big girl undies and get over this hurdle soon. Really, I do know one person who is running the race…my dentist. But that doesn’t really count, does it?
I tossed around the idea of running the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving day. But I am kind of over driving down to hilly Atlanta races and dealing with traffic/parking/transportation. So instead, one of my running group friends and I are going to run (not race) the Tryptophan Long Trot. By running this race we get to sleep in a little bit more on Thanksgiving morning and not deal with traffic. Of course, we only get a technical long sleeve shirt and no blingy medal….but I am overlooking that fact. Maybe I can laminate the logo, attach it to the ribbon, and call it good?
There will be more Running is Great weekly (or biweekly recaps). If you are a runner and you blog about it leave a comment and I will come visit your blog. If you are not a blogger and you still run you can certainly leave a comment bragging about your most recent achievements!

Good for you for signing up for those races! I’m finding the more I run, the less scary a half marathon seems…maybe someday!
I totally get you on the friend thing. I felt that way with my 30 mile bike ride. I didn’t know anybody. Just as I was about to burst into tears (literally), I made a friend and it totally turned my day around. I hope you have a similiar experience!
