Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?
This book is great for repetition and color. Designate each day as a color day and dress everyone in the same color that day. Let the color be the theme of your day! Choose a different color each day of the week. For yellow day you could eat Mac & Cheese and goldfish for lunch. Color days are exciting and the ideas are endless. Each day talk about the sounds that each animal makes. Act the movements of each animal. Monday June 14th, 2010 Read: Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? Sample Greg and Steve at Amazon. Craft: Make stick puppets or bag puppets of the animals in the story. It is best to do this craft at the beginning of the week so your children can use the puppets for pretend play the rest of the week. You can find terrific printables here. Science: Make a notebook for your child. Cut five pieces of paper in half and staple them together to form a ten page booklet. On the cover draw or paste a photo of a brown bear. Go through the book with you child as you say “Child’s Name, Child’s Name, what/who do you see?” Encourage them to say “I see (Grandma) looking at me!” For older children draw a map with them and have them use photos to show where the person lives.
