Welcome to Week Three of Storybook Summer! The Book of the Week is Caps for Sale. This is a fun book that children love. Those monkey are so curious and they make such a fun little noise!
The goal of Storybook Summer is to spend time reading with your children and engaging them in academic learning. No matter what the age of your child, he or she will love spending time reading a book with you! The lesson plans posted here are very informal but will give you ideas of activities you can do with your children every day related to the weekly book theme. Don’t feel like you need to do everything on the lesson plan. Go ahead and make revisions, additions, and deletions. Visit your local library and check out the Book of the Week at the library to save money (just remember to return it on time).
We encourage dialog!!! If you have a great idea, let us know. If you have ideas for upcoming Storybook Summer weeks, send us an email.
I love comments!! Please leave me a comment with your plans for the week or something you accomplished.
“Caps! Caps for sale! Fifty cents a cap!” If these words are not familiar to you then you haven’t read Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina. If this isn’t an instant favorite at your house give it until the end of the week to retire this book to the shelf permanently. Kids have so much fun pretending they are monkeys, shaking their fingers and going “Tsz, tsz, tsz.”
