Finding great prices on meat is incredibly hard. The news reports are full of rising grocery prices and shrinking product sizes. Thankfully there is a company out there who knows exactly how much families need reasonable prices on a few of our favorite products including chicken, beef, cherries, and blueberries. Zaycon Foods cuts out the middle man (the grocery store) as they buy high quality food directly from the farm/processer and then sell that food in cases directly to us. Their business model allows them to drastically reduce the price per pound they charge.

Zaycon Foods has sold boneless skinless chicken breasts from as low as $1.49 per pound to at most $1.79 per pound. Since our family only eats chicken I can say that without a doubt the lowest price we see for boneless skinless chicken breast in the Atlanta area is $1.99 per pound.
How does Zaycon Foods get their prices so low? The easy answer is that they do not have a store. They pick up their products straight from the processor and drive it in a refrigerated truck to a designated pick up spot. People who have prepurchased their order arrive at the pick up spot and have their order loaded directly in to their car. They don’t even have to get out! So let’s get this straight – you are buying a product at a deeply discounted price and you don’t even have to load it in to your car. That’s like a double deal!

2) Zaycon Foods will then email you when there is an event in your area. If you are interested in the deal, you purchase it online, and pick up at the scheduled location during the specified time period. Easy peasy!
I did mention you were buying in bulk, right? Zaycon Foods is perfect for families because they sell large quantities. Yesterday they delivered a 40-lb box of chicken to my house. This chicken was FRESH and had never been frozen. In fact, they said that they little chickens had been running around only 2 days ago. It really doesn’t get much fresher than that!
The chicken came in 4 large bags with about 10 pounds of chicken per bag. These were boneless skinless chicken breasts that needed to be prepped. I took that chicken and divided it up in to bags that are now tucked safely away in my freezer. Some bags have marinade already in them while others are cut up in perfect sizes for fajitas and chicken nuggets. Admittedly, this did take some time, but it wasn’t much different than the time commitment when buying chicken from the supermarket.
To everyone out there who is thinking “But buying meat from a truck is weird or grosses me out” let me just say that I felt the exact same way before talking with Mike at Zaycon Foods. Once I understood their business model it all clicked and the weirdness of it vanished when I realized that buying in bulk from a reputable company saves me a significant amount of money. I would buy from Zaycon Foods in the future, and hope they have an event in my area soon! The quality is amazing. We made Chicken with Asparagus (a super easy recipe that has less than 10 ingredients) and there were no leftovers!
Zaycon Foods may hold a beef event in the south in the next few months and they are currently selling different varieties of cherries and blueberries on the west coast. These guys are all over the place. To get them to stop near you be sure to register at Zaycon Foods so you know when an event is in your neck of the woods!
