Animals in nature are awe-inspiring and amazing. We are used to watching reality television as camera crews follow around (somewhat crazy) people and chronicle their lives. Thankfully Disneynature created real life reality viewing when they filmed African Cats, a film profiling two incredibly families as they drive to make a home in the wilds of Africa. This release was shot over the course of two and a half years using state-of-the-art camera equipments. African Cats captures the awe-inspiring beauty of one of the wildest places on Earth as it tells the dramatic and often intimate stories of Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother’s strength, spirit and wisdom; Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns; and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a rival lion clan.
On October 4th we will be able to purchase African Cats on 2-Disc Blu-ray™ + DVD Combo Pack, a High Definition Movie Download and/or On-Demand viewing to add to our home movie collection. For every movie purchased between October 4th and October 10th, Disneynature will make a donation to the African Wildlife Foundation’s “Save the Savanna” efforts, which is an initiative developed between Disneynature and the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) to protect lions, cheetah, elephants, zebra, giraffe and a host other species in Africa.
I am looking forward to the amazing behind the scenes footage. It seems terrifying to chronicle the lives of wild, African cats, but I cannot wait to see this!
