What would happen if the Disney villains and heroes were separated for about 20 years? They would all have children the same age…of course! Disney’s Descendant’s uses this scenario and weaves the tale of the children of some of the most popular villains and heroes.
Disney certainly knows their target market…and how to make products that appeal to their demographics. It seems like the “big kid/tween” category has gotten little attention lately, but Disney is working on that. Step aside princesses, the villains are entering the scene.

The plot of Descendants follows the children of four disney Villains; Mal, daughter of Maleficient, Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Jay, the son of Jafar; and Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil. The children grew up on the Isle of the last. As teenagers they get the chance to return to life with everyone else and attend Aragon. Dancing, singing, romance, action, and good vs. evil – this movie has a little bit of everything!
We have watched this movie several times and it is a huge hit with my girls (ages 7 and 9). In fact, they have had friends over to watch it too. The dance scenes are their absolute favorites. You definitely need to check out the behind the scenes to see how the choreography happened!
If you have a child who has outgrown princesses, show them the world of villains with Disney’s Descendants. Be sure to check the Disney channel to see if this is airing…if not…order from Amazon or pick up from one of your favorite local retailers.
