Atlanta: The Center for Puppetry Arts Presents Rumpelstiltskin

August 12, 2013 by Leandrea Voskanian

The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Georgia is stretching out our summer with performances of Rumpelstiltskin.  Through September 8, 2013 children will delight in this classic fairytale.  This performance includes hand-crafted marionettes, humor, and catchy tunes.  This show is recommended for ages 4 and older.  When we went there were lots of children under the age of four though!

Rumpelstiltskin

Rumpelstiltskin lasts approximately one hour and does not include an intermission.  After the show the puppeteers emerge and show the audience how they control the marionettes.  My girls think puppets are magical since the marionette strings seem to disappear into the stage!

After the show be sure you head to the Create a Puppet Workshop where you will create a bird marionette.  The Center for Puppetry Arts encourages creativity and has markers, crayons, construction paper, and foam pieces to turn your bird into a unique work of art!  Be sure to put on your very own show after your craft is complete.

My girls and I enjoyed the Rumpelstiltskin performance.  Little Sister spend the rest of the day singing a few of the catchy songs.  We all laughed numerous times (as did the rest of the audience) and at times we were on the edges of our seats.

This post on Rumpelstiltskin is brought to you by the Center for Puppetry Arts, who provided me with complimentary tickets to see this title. Opinions and experiences shared here are all my own, and I hope you enjoy them.
