When we received Squinkies in the mail to review I had no idea what I was going to happen to my daughters….they instantly fell in love and became obsessed.  Some of their favorite toys were discarded for their new Squinkies.  Gasp!  Each girl received a $25 Toys R Us gift card for Christmas and together they spent $56 on more Squinkies and accessories.  It is safe to say that Squinkies are a huge hit in our house.

Squinkies are squishy, squooshy, squashy, and seriously adorable!  Squinkies comes encased in a toy plastic bubble, much like you would find in a quarter machine only smaller and softer.  Each blister pack holds 16 Squinkies and has a SRP of $9.99.  Some Squinkies’ bubbles are colored and there is a surprise inside.  Currently there are 144 different Squinkies friends and pets available (9 series which each include 16 mini-dolls).  With new collectible Squinkies dolls and pets to be released on a regular basis, the line will feature hundres of figures to collect, trade, and share.  It appears that Disney Princess, Hello Kitty, Barbie, Marvel, Cars, and Hot Wheels Squinkies are in the works!  My princess loving Squinkies fan is going to FLIP when she sees her first blister pack of Princess Squinkies.  Her world would be complete if there were Sesame Street Squinkies.  Squinkies can be fashioned in to jewelry or played with in their own specially designed playsets.  At our house Squinkies have teamed up with almost all of our Little People gear.

We received the newest additions to the Squinkies’ line – sets 7, 8, and 9.  My girls love the babies with their pacifiers and pretend to be their mommies.  The fairies and the mouse eating cheese are my favorites.  Honestly, I never would have thought that these little toys would make such an impact on our household.  The level of pretend play that occurs with Squinkies blows me away.  The age recommendation is 4+ for this toy since they are so small.  My younger daughter has always loved small toys and I did not hesitate to let her play with these based on her history.  Each child is different and each parent will make safe decisions for their family.

Our only issue was Squinkies was very easily solved.  There were many cases of “Nooooooooooo!!!  That’s mine!!!” and tug-of-war ensued.  With the help of two different colored Sharpies this was no longer a dilema.  One girl has black and the other girl has red around the bottom of their Squinkies.  Hey, a mom’s gotta keep her sanity somehow!
