Spookley the Square Pumpkin Prize Package Giveaway (closed)

October 17, 2011 by Leandrea Voskanian

There are a few weekends left in October which means a few more weekends to treat your family to a Kidtoons movie!  We love that Kidtoons offers high quality children’s movies at a budget friendly price.  This month’s feature is Spookley The Square Pumpkin.

In a world where only good pumpkins are round pumpkins, Spookley the Square Pumpkin is often teased by the other pumpkins because of his square shape. Soon, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders, who convince Spookley that, square or not, he has a right to be the “Pick of the Patch” on Halloween. A square pumpkin the “Pick of the Patch”? Not if mean round pumpkins Big Tom and Little Tom can help it. These two bullies tease and taunt Spookley because of his square roots. Although he is encouraged to continue to become the “Pick of the Patch” by kindly Jack Scarecrow and his bat sidekicks, Boris and Bella, Spookley isn’t sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rolls the round pumpkins across  the patch towards a raging river below, Spookley’s square shape helps him save the day.  Spookley realizes “it’s fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it’s better to be a square!

Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Spookley the Square Pumpkin has been named the official Spokes-Pumpkin  through a partnership with PACER center.  PACER Center is a parent training and information center for families of children and youth with all disabilities from birth through 21 years old.

The the message of tolerance and acceptance kiddos who watch this movie this month will hopefully leave the theater with much more on their minds than just any another Halloween movie.

The best costume I’ve SEEN was a set of cousins – one dressed as an iPod, and the other was the headphones. But the best costumes I’ve put together MYSELF was either the year my daughter was a cheerleader and 2 of my boys were football players while my baby boy was the football, or last year when my teenager was a black knight, my 6 y.o. was a white knight, my daughter was the princess they were fighting over and my little guy was the dragon. We caused quite a stir when they started acting out the parts.

The best that I have seen is a guy that was dressed up as a cowboy riding a horse. The horse part of the costume started at the waist down to his feet. He had a pair of jeans on top of the horse and the legs dangled with a pair of boots on and it looks like he was riding. He real legs were part of the horses front legs. You had to see it to believe it.
