Luckily this post is about lemons and avocados which are both incredibly healthy.  Be forewarned: there is a chance you will wind up hungry after reading.   :party:

Limoneira Company, based in Santa Paula, California, is one of the country’s largest lemon and avocado growers and a leader in sustainable agriculture. Founded in 1893, Limoneira Company manages over 7,300 acres of farmland throughout California. As part of its sustainability efforts, over 75 percent of Limoneira’s electricity is generated from the sun by two “solar orchards” of photovoltaic panels making it the largest private generator of solar electricity in California. It operates an organics recycling facility that turns green waste into mulch, which is then spread in its orchards saving water and cutting down on weeds. It uses “good” insects to reduce the need for pesticides.

Through its Limoneira Lifestyles line, Limoneira offers fruit and nut gift baskets, kids growing and cooking kits, and skincare products that are lemon and avocado based. We received a Master Chef Kit for review, and let me tell you, I wish we had received two.  Instantly upon opening the box my girls were ecstatic.  Their eyes lit up over the child-sized kitchen gadgets and they wanted to cook right away.  The chef hat is adjustable and fit on each of my girls heads without a problem.  The apron holds each of the utensils and has the Limoneira Kids logo on it.  This kit is perfect for kids.  Given their own properly sized tools, you children will be that much better at stirring and mixing!  Family time in the kitchen is so important.  I am so excited that one lucky Coupons Are Great winner will receive the same Master Chef Kit that we love so much!

    I bring green to my life by recyling of course, growing a fruit and veggie garden in the summer, canning the stuff in the fall and by trying to constantly teach my kids and conserve myself.

    I recycle and use the clothesline to dry clothes outside as long as possible, then use wooden racks to dry most inside.

    We have switched our shower heads to a better flow head, it won’t turn on until the water is hot. We also make sure the lights are off in rooms that are not being used. We recycle as well!

    We recycle, filter our own water and use reusable water bottles. I don’t purchase paper products (plates, napkins,etc) ANSI try to re-purpose as many things as I can!

    To go green, we have eliminated paper towels and napkins, and disposable wraps/covers/lunchbox containers. We use CFLs and have everything on power strips, which we shut off when not in use. We recycle, Freecycle, and compost.

    Actually, we are not “green”. We are just responsible, and we believe that only God can destroy the earth. As George Carlin says, “how can something that comes from the earth destroy it. Plus, my husband works with recycling; and we see that most of it gets thrown right back in with the regular garbage. Not much of people’s recycling is even bought back for such–there’s no money in it.

    Well, to bring green living in my house, I use my bike for quick errands in the neighborhood. I recycle paper and take it to our community school to drop in the recycle bin.
