There is no doubt that tiny little porcelain tea cups and tea pots bring out the best in children. As soon as they see those little dishes they want to pretend and create a magical tea party. What better combination in the hot summer months than a tea party mixed with ice cream?
My girls and I recently hosted a tea party for a few of our friends. We were sent a goody box from Cadbury and MomSelect. We received 4 boxes of ice cream, a tea set, and hats. As soon as Big Sister (age 6) and Little Sister (age 5) opened the boxes they squealed with delight and went in to instant party planning mode. They knew they wanted to serve lemonade in the tea pot (and who am I to argue?) and mini cupcakes (which are perfect with ice cream). I knew that we were in the middle of moving and I needed to keep this party low key and not go overboard like I normally do. A quick Evite was sent to a few friends. The girls and I wanted cute, fun, and easy all at the same time. We headed to the craft store and bought scrapbooking paper to create Tea Party Placements, which were adorable.
The big day came and we counted down the hours until our friends arrived. The morning started by getting dressed in a fancy dress…and a not so fancy dress. We kept things simple by serving cut up fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwich triangles, and crackers to go with our sweet treats.
I will admit…..I “sampled” the ice cream before the party. I was sent 4 boxes of perfectly portioned ice cream bars. You better believe that I tried them before our tea party. I had to share with my husband too….what if we accidentally ate them all at our get together and there weren’t any left for him afterwards? Both my husband and I really enjoyed the ice cream…..and I was sure they would be a success with the kids too. I was right! They were able to choose from the following flavors:
- Cadbury™ Caramello™: Creamy Blue Bunny® vanilla ice cream is swirled with caramel sauce and dipped in rich, creamy Cadbury milk chocolaty coating
- Cadbury™ Double Chocolate: Creamy Blue Bunny® chocolate ice cream is dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating
- Cadbury™ Vanilla Chocolate: Creamy Blue Bunny ® vanilla ice cream is dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating
- Cadbury™ Chocolate Almond: Creamy Blue Bunny® vanilla ice cream dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating with almond pieces.
The Cadbury Ice Cream Bars are a fantastic size for children. Admittedly, they are a little messy because the chocolate coating falls off, but that is easy to scoop up and eat! These little bars are a great treat that is low in calories (because the portion size is small). The only thing I didn’t like was that the packages are not labeled. If you have 2 boxes of these and you grab one Dark Chocolate and one Caramel (my fave!) at the same time and you aren’t paying attention to which one is in which hand you won’t know which is which until you open the packages. It’s not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning.
If you have wanted an excuse to get a few friends over……this is it! Make a simple tea party and serve some delicious Cadbury ice cream bars!
