It is impossible to not see a hundred things you wish were in your house during the fall months. Neighbors hang amazing fall wreaths in October and you are left wondering how you can compete? Make a canvas candy corn door wreath to hang this fall and your neighbors will be amazed with your crafting ability!
How to Create a Canvas Candy Corn Door Wreath
1. Draw a candy corn shape onto canvas using a pencil. We used a 9 x 12 foot canvas to make “walls” in one of our unfinished basement rooms and I used a scrap piece of leftover canvas. You can get canvas from a craft store by the yard as well as the home improvement stores. The amount of crafts you can make with a 9×12 foot canvas is incredibly mind boggling.
2. Fold your canvas so you can cut out two identical candy corn shapes at once. Cut!
3. Using a hot glue gun, pipe a bead of glue around the edges and press to seal shut. Leave an opening so you can fill will stuffing.
4. Fill with stuffing and glue the hole closed.
5. Now it’s time to paint! This is a step in this craft where everyone can help with. Using acrylic paint, paint your candy corn. White on the top, orange in the middle, and yellow on the bottom.
6. Add a wooden letter (black looks great) with a hot glue gun. You may need to put a heavy book on top of the canvas/letter combination to get the maximum hold.
7. Now you could leave your candy corn as a decorative pillow and it would be super cute. You can take this project one step further and use wire to make a candy corn door wreath. By poking some wire through the back.
Tip for hanging – The Command 3M hooks work great to hang this easy canvas candy corn Halloween craft.
I didn’t get a photo of our candy corn wreath on the door because I made them for my girl’s teachers and we had to rush out the door to parent teacher conference while the paint was still tacky. The teachers both LOVED their gifts (the girls painted the letters black for their role in helping) and the girls loved handing over this fun Halloween craft.
