So many things have happened since my last Family is Great post! It has been 2 weeks since that post and I will fill you in on some of what has happened since then.
Jacks are fun – but I totally remember the bouncy ball being bouncy instead of like a rock. Seriously, bouncy balls of the year 2012 are not the same as they were in the 1980’s. Sigh.
Little Sister graduated speech!!!!!!!!!!! She went to speech for close to 60 sessions and finally graduated. She worked on sounds that were age appropriate and then they worked on ones that were supposed to be too advanced for her age. /R/ is not a sound they work on with kids until they are five or six, but Little Sister did so well that she worked on a ton of sounds and graduated. Her therapist does not think she will regress or need to be seen in the future. Woohoo!!!
Aannnnnd……….Little Sister’s hearing is back to normal!!!!!!! She had her adenoids removed and ear tubes inserted about 2 weeks ago. Prior to surgery her hearing loss was moderate. Post surgery her hearing is almost perfect. You don’t even know how good it feels to have some evidence that we made the right decision. She even says that she hears better now.
We had some dinner time geography lessons about just how far it is from Atlanta to Southern Oregon using our KleenSlate paddle. If you are wondering, it takes us about 12 hours to get from our house to my in-laws house. Little Sister drew her map of the US.
Random picture of the girls after school one day. Little Sister found that Care Bear at Goodwill for 99¢ and we had it washed and dried before Big Sister came home from school.
We had Shaving Cream Fun outside. It was messy, gooey, and fun.
Little Sister was a mess – she even got shaving cream in her eyes. Oy!
I had lunch with Big Sister at school. We sat at special tables on the stage. Big Sister was so excited to show me all of her friends and I was excited to put a faces with so many names. I am blogging about Big Sister’s school year this year separately. If you are interested and would like the link and password please let me know.
Big Sister lost her second tooth! Woohoo! She got the same Tooth Fairy Treatment as when she lost her first tooth – a $1 bill with glitter stuck to it, two quarters, and a note from the tooth fairy herself.
We found the coolest drum sets at Costco. If we had a basement I could see us owning one of them.
We try to do something active on the weekends. Sometimes it is running on Friday nights, other times it is biking. Today my husband and I went on an 8 mile bike ride with the girls in the bike trailer (which we received from Ricole Runs parents). After our 8 miles the girls got their bikes out of the van and we went 1.5 miles. It was hilly. It was hard. Flat is better! One mile instead of 1.5 would have been a much better choice.
We don’t have much going on this week, but I will try to take some pictures. SCRATCH THAT!!! My husband is upstairs right now…painting cabinets in our bathroom. It will look something like our Powder Room, only much bigger. We have some decisions to make…and we are terrible at making them.
Cheers everyone!
