Go Big or Go Home: Plus 2 Dave Ramsey Audio Lesson for $1

 

Go Big or Go Home is my motto today. Last week a very mean curb attacked my car.  Truthfully, I was handing my daughter her sippy cup and I clipped the edge of a tall curb.  Not one of my best days, that’s for sure.  When I sent my husband the picture of the damage he saw the photo above and didn’t think it was all that much damage.  What he couldn’t really see what the bolt sticking out of the side of the car.

This was my first insurance claim – and it happens to be an at fault accident.  D’oh!  I dropped the car off yesterday and the insurance company called today to say that they entire door has to be replaced.  Go Big or Go Home!

On the bright side, I damaged all three side panels to the van.  That means the whole side of the van will be repainted.  🙂

We have to pay our $500 insurance deductible to cover the $3,000 worth of damage.  That $500 also covers a rental car at $30 per day for the length of time the van is at the body shop.

There is a time in my life when I would have cried huge alligator tears over $500.  But a few years ago loosely followed Dave Ramsey’s Debt Snowball and tucked aside money in to our emergency fund.  We know exactly where the $500 will come from to cover the repair.
