Gift giving is a joyous occasion, especially when it is a gift that has sentimental value.  Living 3,000 miles away from all of our family is tough year round.  We don’t get to have grandparents, aunts, or uncles read the girls stories at night and tuck them in to bed.  Well, that was until we discovered Hallmark Recordable Storybooks.  Oh my gosh!  What a fabulous way to share your love with your family.  With Recordable Storybooks you will hear your loved ones voice as you turn each page.  While they may not be able to tuck your kids in, your far away family can be at your house both in voice and spirit.

Hallmark’s Recordable Storybooks are a unique gift. They feature voice capture technology that records the reader’s voice directly into the pages of the Recordable Storybook. When the page is turned, the Storybook automatically plays the text on that page in the reader’s voice. They are great gifts from the out-of-town relatives, parents in the military, parents who travel on business or anyone who wants to read to a child in their life, but can’t be physically present.   Even if the battery is removed, the voice of a loved one will be captured for a lifetime because the story is never, ever erased.

Books in the Recordable Storybook collection include Guess How Much I Love You, I love you Grandma, My Grandpa and Me, Hey Diddle Diddle, Frosty the Snowman, The Night Before Christmas, and more.  These stories are available at Hallmark stores and have a suggested retail price of $29.95.

We received The Night Before Christmas to review and I was so impressed that I went to Hallmark and bought 3 other Recordable Storybooks to send as Christmas gifts.  My girls, ages 4 and almost 3, cannot get enough of these!  They love hearing their little voices as they turn the pages of the story.  It is so easy to record each page, simply hold the record button and talk.  If you do not like what you hear, simply record over it until you get it just the way you want it.  When you are finished recording there is a “lock” button tucked away under a compartment that is locked with a screw.

It would be an amazing tradition to buy the same book year after year (or stockpile a few of them now so you have them in the future) and have your children read the same pages year after year.  Your child’s voice and pronunciation will change every year and there is no better way to store it than a Recordable Storybook.  You will be able to hear as your children grow up (as bittersweet as that is).

    My DIL lost her father two weeks ago and my grandson is only a year old. He will never know his grandpa. So we want the remaining grandparents to read this bbok to him so he will always have our voices to remember.
