In less than 3 weeks I will be a princess!!!! Well, I will have completed a royal 13.1 mile quest through the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida known as the Disney Princess Half Marathon. There will be no glass slippers for this runner. Can you imagine running in heels? The other day I was on the elliptical and saw the 200 yard “Marathon” that was on Live with Regis and Kelly (now just Live with Kelly) and watched as the first place winner broke four of her ribs toppling over the finish line in her heels. Hey, she won a car though! If anything, that video resolved me to sticking with my running shoes.
This is a super exciting race for me for so many reasons. The first is that this is a girls weekend – no kids, no husbands. I haven’t had one of those in over three years! The second is that one my my best friends is coming from Seattle to run too. The third has to be the costume. I will unveil my costume very, very soon. Let’s just say it involves tulle! You can’t do a princess race at Disney without tulle, right?
It has been a year since I have run more than 8 miles. Over the weekend my husband and I ran 10 miles together. That was HARD! I don’t know what the difference it between 8 and 10, but my mental block was on and I was challenged…..a lot! I came home and all I wanted to do was crawl up on the couch and sleep. That’s kind of impossible when you have mom duties to do. Finding deals and blogging about them was not even close to happening far from my mind.
This weekend we will run an 11 mile run, and I am hoping to eat better and have more energy. Hopefully I will be able to stay on top of both my running and couponing games this weekend!
Any guesses on what my costume will be? 🙂
Let me leave you with this…..my total inspiration for running!
I can’t wait to see your outfit! Don’t forget to add a tiara!
I will definitely share Theresa. I am working on the hair – which needs to include a tiara. I really need to get my costume done NOW!
My friend Sarah is (planning on) running it too! Check out RunningatDisney.com her blog! Wish I could be there to cheer you on!
Oooh, another runner! I will definitely check out her blog. Thanks for the comment Stacey. <3
