Recently I posted about Mother’s Day…and how for some people Mother’s Day isn’t picture perfect. I dare say that none of our lives are picture perfect. What we have instead are people in our lives who make the days wonderful (or not so wonderful), people who make us smile (or cringe), people who make us laugh and laugh with us.

My husband and my daughters are definitely the people in my life who make me smile the most. The power of the written word is tremendous and littles notes of love can mean the world to the person receiving them. Little Sister is 5 and starts Kindergarten in the fall. Today she wrote me a this little note that made me smile. I will definitely hang this above my desk. I should laminate it and save it forever because I know the teenage years will be here in the blink of an eye and I will become the bad guy. Until then I will cherish these words:
Dear my mommy
You make me happy and you make me “ssmiuyyull”.
Yes, Little Sister, you make me “smile” too!
It’s notes like these that make all the time I spend with my girls feel like I am doing something right. I may have missed a deal or two in the last week (or the last month), we may have spent all of our budget money, we may have had a time out or two, and we may have lost our patience with one another. Notes like these make it all ok though!
Do you have a note that you have saved from your kids? How old was that child when the note was written?
