It’s almost New Years! Whether you are going out, throwing a shindig, or having a quiet night at home you should spend some time with some glitter before you go. Ring in the New Year with some really cute glittered tins for 2014. You could easily make candle holders as well. I found these tins on sale for 50¢ each in Target’s Dollar Spot in the days after Christmas clearance.
Make your own New Years Eve DIY Party Decoration
- 4 Tin containers (or glass candle holders)
- Glue (I use a 1:1 glue to water mixture that I keep in an old jelly jar. It is very easy to paint with and is versatile enough to use on many different crafts). You can also use Modge Podge if you have it on hand….I really like Modge Podge!
- Paint brush
- Glitter in 4 colors
- 2014 print out. (I used the Ultra font from PicMonkey. It’s free for you to use.)
- Pencil
- Scissors/Exacto Knife
- 2 Pieces of Paper
How to Make this New Years Eve DIY Party Decoration: Glittered Tins 2014
Using your 2014 print out, cut out the numbers. Using a pencil, trace the numbers onto the tin. Using a paint brush apply the Modge Podge/Glue to the inside of the number you traced. Apply glitter. Keep one piece of paper under the tin at all times so you can transfer the glitter back and forth. Allow to dry. You may need a second coat of glitter, which can be applied right over the first once it is dried.
Once your project is completely dry you can fill your tins with whatever your heart desires. Our will hold chocolate covered pretzels, candy, crackers, and grapes. These are such a cute way to display foods, but you could also put pencils and pens in them as well!
