It always, ALWAYS amazes me how much money some people spend on their cell phone service each month. Each month when we cover the expenses of our budget categories I know that my cell phone costs just $40 a month, all in, including taxes and fees. No, I am not making that up. There are absolutely no surprises when it comes to my cell phone payment each month. At our weekly (sometimes bi-weekly ) budget meetings my husband and I know where all of our dollars are going and we know that we are not overpaying for cell phone service. The secret is simple – a prepaid plan will save you money on your cell phone each and every month.

If I could scream from the rooftop the two things I think every family should do to save money they would be:
1) Use a prepaid cell phone! Stop those sky high wireless bills!
2) Ditch cable! Stop those insane cable bills!
We are going to talk about prepaid cellular service today (cutting your cable service is as simple as it sounds while learning about prepaid cell plans is always a research endeavor). I will specifically talk about the the T-Mobile Simply Prepaid Plan which gives you unlimited talk and text plus 4G LTE all for $40 a month.
Using Prepaid Cell Plans
Who: Who should use a prepaid plan? Everyone. Anyone who likes to save money. This plan is not for people who like to flush away their money every month. If that makes you happy, then continue throwing away your money every month with a monthly contract plan.
What: Introducing the Simply Prepaid™ Plan from T-Mobile

When: Right now! Or as soon as your monthly contract is up.

Where: Purchase a cell phone (such as the Samsung Galaxy Avant) compatible with the T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans in store at Wal-mart in the electronics department or online at Walmart.com. If you purchase your phone online you may receive free site to store shipping as well as cash back on your purchase.

Why: Saving money makes sense. Simply Prepaid™ will help lower your monthly cost and give you an awesome service for just $40 dollars a month get 4G LTE data with unlimited talk and text.
When you are on the T-Mobile network you get nationwide 4G LTE on a Data Strong network. Did you know that T-Mobile has award winning customer service? (My internet company should take lessons!). There is a large selection of the latest and greatest smartphones available on the T-Mobile network. I used to think that a prepaid phone meant I was going to be trapped with yesterday’s technology but that is not the case. Prepaid cell phones are up and coming and I hope they will be just as popular (if not more popular) than traditional cell plans in the next few years. They truly are one of the easiest ways to save money each month.
How much do YOU pay?
I asked on Facebook what people were paying for their cell phone each month. On average people pay $47.63 per month for the cell phones. The most expensive plan was $70/month and the cheapest was $20/month. If you take that $47.63 average and determine that you could be paying $7.63 less per month then in a year you would save $91.56 on your cell phone bill. That is almost one hundred dollars that you could be using to fund your other budget categories.

Each month our budget goals are simple: Spend less than we make (that’s how you stay out of debt). We should also be keeping track of our spending and allocating our money into budget categories. Above you will see a snippet of how much we pay for a few of our budget categories. With T-Mobile’s Simply prepaid plan it is possible to spend your money wisely so you can save for your big goals (like a new car or a fun vacation).

I have shared one of the easiest ways we budget each month with you. How do YOU keep your cell phone bill down each month?
