Having fun activities to do is a great way to keep children entertained. Fresh play things increase your child’s creativity and rotating through those toys means there is less chance of that dreaded word….you know….BORED! As a preschool teacher I learned that getting toys out of sight and out of mind for awhile makes them exciting when they are brought out of hiding. What’s old becomes new. If you have spying little eyes in your house you need to make a Spy Box for them! This post contains affiliate links.
A Good Spy Kit for Kids Must Have
Disguises
Head to your local Dollar Store and pick up a few disguises from the kid’s toy section. They have the glasses/nose/furry eyebrows combination that is perfect for this! You can also make your own disguises using the free Print & Cut Disguises file from Design House Digital. Add a dowel and these will last awhile!
Rearview Glasses
Spy on stuff behind you with rear vision! These specially made sunglasses have a mirror on each side allowing you to see whats going on behind you. Spy glasses are fun for all ages!
Magnifying Glass
Let kids explore and get a little sciencey with their own magnifying glass. This spy kit item definitely has a lot of uses!
Notebooks/Files
Create a special Spy Notebook by recovering a store bought notebook. I took manilla folders and turned them child size with a few cuts. Inside I stapled paper. Smaller is just better for little kids.
Invisible Pens
With Invisible Pens your kids can practice writing secret notes. What’s more fun than invisible ink? Get a few Invisible Pens to keep in the spy kit.
Walkie Talkies
With Walkie Talkies kids will be able to keep the dialogue going from across the house and yard! I recommend ones that come with rechargeable batteries….or having rechargeable batteries on hand. My girls had the hardest time remembering to turn these off!
A Box or Bag to Store All the Supplies
Turn a simple shoe box into a Spy Kit….or use a simple bag. I like the idea of a box because it is clearly labeled and can be put away for a few weeks only to be brought out with renewed excitement.
