Kids need to hear and practice new words each day. One summer activity for kids is to create a list of Super Duper words to use throughout the summer. Introduce one word and its meaning at the beginning of the day and encourage your child to use the word throughout the day. Use the word of the day several times yourself as well.
Create a Super Duper chart and graph how many times your child (correctly) used the word of the day. By combining new words and charting you are working on both vocabulary and mathematics, both are very important skills!
On a piece of paper write the Super Duper word in the middle. Let your child illustrate 2 or 3 examples from the day. Now you are adding even more fun education to your summer.
The most important thing to remember is to make this a fun activity…..not one that is a chore or too much work. I brainstormed a list of Super Duper words. This list pulls vocabulary from the fields of science, mathematics, and social studies. If you have any words to include, please leave a comment and I will add them to the list.
