This week’s Sponge Balls craft fits perfectly with our Storybook Summer Book of the Week: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. You may wonder how, but when you get to the last photo it will all make sense!
Required Materials:
Sponges, Scissors, Rope/String/Ribbon

We bought a package of four sponges from the dollar store. I cut each sponge in to five strips.

With those five strips we made three rows of five and stacked them on each other. We then tied ribbon around all of the sponge pieces.

Pull tight! The tighter the better.

It is amazing that such a simple little sponge brought such a big smile!

With the leftover sponge we made a tiny sponge ball. I used too many sponge pieces though. Less would have been better in this case.

My girls loved these toys. They immediately took them in the backyard and caught them in the pool with their butterfly nets. See, I told you we would get back to Storybook Summer at the end. 😉

This is a great idea. I need to make a few of these for some special little people in my life, (my nephews). One of my nephews has sensory issues and this will be great for him. Thanks for sharing.
