Doc McStuffins DVD: Friendship Is The Best Medicine

August 27, 2012 by Leandrea Voskanian

The Doc is in! One of the absolutely most adorable television show doctors for children has a brand new Disney DVD, Doc McStuffins: Friendship Is The Best Medicine (+ Digital Copy).  Get ready to play doctor with Doc & friends with this brand new DVD and activity booklet.
Doc McStuffins is Cable TV’s #1 Series for Kids ages 2-5.  My girls fall into this age range and they would agree that Doc McStuffins is the best television show aired.  We don’t have cable so we don’t get any Disney Channels, which is a huge bummer.  Little Sister found Doc McStuffins one day while waiting at the car dealership.  Having Doc McStuffins on DVD has been on our wish list for quite awhile.  The girls absolutely adore Doc and love singing along to the songs.  Honestly, I haven’t talked with one parent who doesn’t like the show herself and have children who enjoy watching.  Disney did a fantastic job on this show!
Doc McStuffins is a six-year-old girl who plays with her stuffed animals and toys.  Each episode deals with a common ailment that a child could see a doctor.  Doc’s friends include Stuffy, an overly proud dragon; Lambie, her  cuddly best friend; Hallie, a jolly and caring  hippo nurse; Squeakers, an alarmist squeaky toy fish; and Chilly, a snowman who spends a lot of time getting check-ups at the clinic.  Ailments from low batteries to loose stitching are easy for Doc to repair.  Although she does ask her mom (a real doctor) for help in several episodes, showing that asking for help is a great idea.   Children learn lessons including imagination, teamwork, taking care of yourself and others, responsibility, and friendship from Doc McStuffins.   Each episode features two 11-minute stories and an original song and showcases the hallmarks of great Disney storytelling – fantasy and wish fulfillment.

The characters and themes featured in “Doc McStuffins” are all made to be relatable to young viewers and are designed to ease kids’ trepidations about everything from a doctor’s visit to removing a splinter.  Many of the stories directly address the kinds of issues that parents face with their young children when it comes to good health, hygiene and trips to the doctor’s office. It’s the perfect series to have on-hand and add to your home entertainment collection.

The DVD contains five full length episodes, each consisting of two 11-minute stories, that highlight some of Doc’s favorite toys.

  • ENGINE NINE, FEELIN’ FINE! – Doc and her toys learn a lesson about dehydration after discovering that Donny’s toy fire engine has run out of water.
  • DARK KNIGHT – During a sleepover with all of her toys, Doc discovers that Sir Kirby is afraid of the dark and prescribes a night light to cure him of the “Dark Willies.”
  • HALLIE GETS AN EARFUL – When Hallie is having trouble hearing, Doc gives her a hearing test and realizes that she has extra cotton stuck in her ears.
There are some printable Doc McStuffins activity sheets.  Just click the box below.

We can’t leave you without a little video clip. Watch it and let us know what you think:

I clicked on your review because there is a slight obsession with Doc in our house. One night Little Miss kept telling her Daddy there’s a dragon under there! He’s purple! So I asked, “well what is his name.” “Stuffy!”

We will be picking this up for her birthday – thought I could try to win a copy. Oh well, fun review!
