This post is sponsored by Hallmark. All opinions are mine.
Every year that I parent my daughters I think “If (this age) is like THIS then what are the teenage years going to be like?” Right now my girls are seven and eight (yes, they are close in age, fifteen month and three weeks apart to be exact). Each age and stage comes with so many positives and great memories but there are those times when I feel like I am not being as positive and supportive as I should be. You feel it too, right? As I evaluate my family relationships this Valentine’s Day I know that a trip to Hallmark is in order. Will you join me and put your heart to paper (#putyourhearttopaper)? I am going to list the positives, all the good, all the reasons to smile….the things I sometimes forget to say or don’t say enough.
Without using the word love I will tell my girls that:
- They make my heart happy.
- Each and every day is special and I can’t wait for all the tomorrows that we have together.
- My life is perfect knowing that I share each and every day with them.
And because they are seven and eight I will make I use those words “I love you” too!
This Valentine’s Day I cannot forget my husband. We met in sixth grade, can you believe that? We started dating when we were seniors in high school (in 1998 – back when Blockbuster existed…before Redbox was a thing) and were married right after we graduated college. That’s definitely a lot of years and a lot of reasons to say thank you, I love you, and MORE. He makes me laugh more than any other person, which is why his Valentine’s Day card says “This Valentine is stuffed with love!” And the inside says “And Fairy Farts.” I really laughed out loud when I read that and I know he will too! You know you have found the perfect card when your heart is touched or you laugh while standing in the store.
Putting our feelings into words is a powerful experience for both you and the receiver. Check out this tissue-worthy video from #Hallmark. You will be even more inspired to put your heart to paper.
