It is officially “the holiday season.” Black Friday ads have been leaked, Walmart stores are counting down the days with in store displays, and Christmas holiday merchandise is prominent at almost every store you shop at (even the grocery stores). The time to pinch our pennies is NOW, and that is easy with all the upcoming sales that can be combined with coupons and money saving apps. It is easy to save on household favorites, including OREO cookies this time of year. All that money you save on essentials can be used to splurge on all the other holiday items you have to purchase.
Saving Money During the Holidays
- Examine the ads and make a list! Look for the items that offer a huge discount. Those are the items to write down on your shopping list.
- Shop at more than one store. Different stores work with different brands to offer discounts. You will find that sales lead to lower prices at one store than the other.
- Search for coupons. Coupons can be found in store (look for displays), in the Sunday newspaper, and online.
- Submit for rebates with money saving apps.
#SnackandSave with OREO
If you are a Walmart shopper and you want to go to one store for all of your shopping you can use coupons with rebates to save big on OREO cookies. Whether you are snacking, decorating, or gifting OREO cookies, no one wants to pay full price. Head to Walmart and get a package for $1.98 by following these easy steps.
Head to Walmart and find the display or aisle with OREO cookies. They should be priced at $2.98, but you can pay just $1.98 for them. Look for the 50¢ coupon peelie (also known as an Instant Redeemable Coupon) on the OREO package. Be sure to use that coupon at the register when you checkout. If you don’t see an OREO display, check the cookie aisle. This little green coupon doesn’t expire until 2/15/17, which gives you plenty of time to find and use it!
But wait, that’s only a 50 cent savings!
Once you have purchased your package of OREO cookies you can use Ibotta to save another 50 cents, which drops the price to $1.98. That means you will save 1/3 of the original price of the cookies.
New to Ibotta? It’s so easy my daughters ask to use it for me. I have been using it for years – read THIS for more information.
Easily search for Ibotta rebates here.
But hurry, you have until November 30, 2016 to pair the Ibotta deal & the instant coupon.
When the weather cools off there are two flavors everyone loves: pumpkin is the flavor of the fall, and peppermint signals winter. With the cooler weather we tend to bake more at our house….and our easy peppermint OREO snacks are a hit around here. They are easy to make and taste delicious.
I was reminded while walking through Walmart that the time is here to make our Peppermint OREO snack/dessert. I was able to whip this up while the girls were at school and cannot wait to see their reactions when they get home today! All you need is some peppermint candy melts (or regular candy melts and crushed candy cane). To make just a few cookies, add about 1/3 cup to a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir until melted. Spoon onto the OREO. Put them in the fridge for a few minutes and they will firm up nicely.
This is an excellent cookie for Santa!
For $1.98 a pack, who wouldn’t want stock up on OREO at that price?
Go ahead and get your OREO savings today! Stock up in time for Christmas.
