Do you ever sit back and realize that we have only 18 years with our kids? Between the day your child is born, and the time he or she turns 18, you get 940 Saturdays — and 260 of them are gone by her fifth birthday. That fifth birthday is a big one, it is when the school career starts and our kids go to school for 7+ hours a day. We can tell our kids we love them through small acts like every day lunch box notes, baked goods, stickers, jokes and more. My girls love getting lunch box notes in their lunches and my heart melts when they write lunch box notes for each other and my husband. I don’t get these lunch notes often since I don’t pack a lunch, but every once in awhile Little Sister will put a note on my pillow or the driver’s seat of my car and my heart melts with happiness when I read her handwritten message. Having had a note reciprocated to me, I understand how fun it is to get a little pick me up in your lunch.
If a lunch note every day is too much for you (I totally get that!) then pick one day of the week to send in a handwritten note to your kiddo. Print one of these everyday lunch box notes to tuck in your kiddos lunch. Maybe you homeschool and don’t make lunches that are sent to school in a lunch box. If that is the case you can put this note on your child’s school work area. Think outside the box and have fun!
