History was not my favorite subject in school. There were too many names and dates to remember. I couldn’t turn those facts into imaginative stories in my head and always zoned out when learning about important historical events. Now that I am a parent I do NOT want this characteristic passed down to my children. We live in an age when technology can turn long ago facts into a remarkable cartoon. Liberty’s Kids: The Complete Series is on my list of “must watch” DVD’s for families with children.

To be 100% honest I was skeptical that my girls would like Liberty’s Kids, which is a series that travels back in time to the American Revolution. Working as teenage reporters for Benjamin Franklin three teenagers survey their lives inside the war. James (an American colonist), Sarah (a young English reporter), and Henri (a French boy who is constantly cooking up trouble) are constantly evaluating the rapidly changing scenes of North America as the war continues on. Could this DVD really make history fun and make my girls want to watch more? The answer is yes.

My girls absolutely love this series, which they watch in the van. I have listened to much more of this series than I have actually watched. Big Sister and Little Sister have asked to share this DVD with friends. Last week I actually drained the battery in the car because they kept begging me for “just two more minutes” and “now we have to see what happens to Henri.” I have learned more about the American Revolution while listening to Liberty’s Kids than I did growing up in school, for sure! This is a fantastic way to teach children about history. Love it!
LIBERTY’S KIDS: THE COMPLETE SERIES is packed with incredible voice talent including – Whoopi Goldberg, Walter Cronkite, Kathleen Barr, Billy Crystal, Michael Douglas, Warren Buffett, Liam Neeson and more!! Please check out the trailer below!
I really believe that all kids should have the opportunity to watch this show, but I do understand that not everyone will like it. That being said, if this series is not for you you can always donate it to your school or public library. Liberty’s Kids is currently priced at $9.99 at Amazon or you can enter to win this giveaway!
