When Life Gives You O.J. Giveaway (ends 07/17)

July 6, 2011 by Leandrea Voskanian

We have all heard the saying “When life gives you lemons make lemonade.”  But what if life were to give you a practice dog made from an old orange juice carton?  If you have a child between the ages of 8 and 12 then “When Life Gives You O.J.” (written by Erica S. Perl) is a book that should be on their summer reading list.  This is a book that boys and girls will enjoy…..and moms and dads too.  Yes, I read this book, and yes, I enjoyed it!

When Life Give You O.J is the story of how a girl named Zelly gets the dog she desperately wanted.  OK, so maybe it isn’t the dog she wanted, but it is definitely a character builder!  Zelly is an unhappy girl after moving from New York, where she fit in, to Vermont, where she feels like an outsider.  Zelly begs for a dog, but her grandfather (Ace) brings Zelly a plastic orange juice container instead.  Taking care of a plastic jug makes Zelly that much more weird to the other kids.  The emotions and challenges in this story are ones that children between the ages of 8 and 12 can identify and relate to.

Do you want to know if Zelly trades in O.J. for a real dog?  One lucky Coupons are Great winner will receive a “juicy” package including one copy of When Life Gives You O.J., a themed water bottle, and a backpack.
