Each year my kids make a new ornament to put on the tree. This year we tried these super easy ice cream cone ornaments. They were so fast and easy that my kids decided they needed to keep on crafting and added a ton more to their little ice creams than what was orginally intended. They are defintely their very own pieces of art!
Supplies:
Ice Cream Cone
Circle Ornament (I purchased a pack of six from the Dollar Store for this craft)
Glitter
Paint
Hot Glue Gun
Clear Acrylic Spray
Steps:
1. Outdoors, spray your ice cream cone with the clear acrylic and allow it to dry.
2. While waiting for the acrylic to dry, paint your ornament to resemble ice cream dripping (or whatever you want to paint on it). I placed our ornament on a shot glass to hold it up and avoid it from rolling.
3. While the paint is still wet, add glitter to your ornament to resemble sprinkles! We used white, but colored would be cute too!
4. Once both your ornament and cone are dry, adhere the ornament to the cone using hot glue. The easiest way is to put the glue on the inside lip of your cone and then stick your ornament on to adhere.
5. Optional: Using permanent marker, you can personalize the ornament by writing on the cone. Just don’t press too hard!
6. To finalize your ornament, spray a second coat of acrylic spray on the cone and the bulb and allow to dry.
And if you want to keep on going, you can add all kinds of all crafty tools like ribbon and pom-poms to get a result like my children did 🙂
