Christmas Traditions are a fun part of December. In our house we have the Christmas Pickle Tradition and Reindeer Pancakes or Rudolph Pankcakes. In addition to those traditions we also decorate with Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. When I grew up our Christmas tree was decorated with tinsel and ornament balls. It was nothing fancy. I didn’t know that trees could pack a powerful punch of memories until I met my husband’s family. We have dated since we were seniors in high school, which means I spent the entire Christmas season of my senior year in high school at his house staring at his beautiful tree that was decorated from top to bottom with Hallmark ornaments (see the photo below – that’s the tree at his house). In 1999 I received my very first Hallmark ornament. It was, and is, an instant memory. (You can’t tell very well from the photo below….but it’s the mouse sitting on the cookie plate in almost the center of the photo….my mother-in-law has the same one). I have spent the last 15 years falling in love with different Hallmark ornaments for a variety of reasons. They are cute, high quality, and elicit powerful memories.

Of course I was curious about a tree with so many Hallmark ornaments. My mother-in-law explained that some ornaments were hers, but many of the ornaments in the tree were for her three boys. When they moved out and got married she intended to give them each a box of ornaments that she had been collecting for them every year since they were babies. I didn’t realize how genius that idea was until I was on the receiving end of that box of ornaments. Okay, so my husband received the box, but I love those ornaments too! Since 1999 I have been slowly accumulating Hallmark ornaments. There are three “new house” ornaments, the baby ornaments, collections, and so many more. Each ornament has a memory to tell.

This Christmas I have teamed up with Hallmark to bring you a very fun giveaway. I was able to browse the 2014 Dreambook and create a wish list of my top three ornaments. I received Santa’s Merry Phonograph from Hallmark. I was instantly impressed. Watch and you will see why (if the image below doesn’t work for you, simply click here).
Little Sister has pretty much claimed Santa’s Merry Phonograph as her own. She loves dancing around in her socks to Carol of the Bells. Every time she does, I smile. It’s a great memory for her and me too!
I am so excited that one lucky Coupons Are Great winner is going to receive a Hallmark ornament this year. Yay!
